The parent company Messrs. H. W. S,. De Silva & Co was first registered in 1937. Though it has been started in 1932, at Pallepola Matale.
Within few years the company developed into one of the very successful business establishments in north central province under the able guidance of the founder Mr. H. W. S. De Silva. The first passenger transport bus started by the company was named as United Bus Company, and operations were carried out from Matale to Anuradhapura.
Since 1943 the company has been the wholesale distributor of provisions including the Govt rationed items.
During the World War II, distributions of rationed items and provisions in the area from Matale up to Dambulla, was carried out by the company, directly under the supervision of the Govt Agent, Matale.
The Company did become the first outstation Company to Import commodities during 1940s.
During the latter part of 1950s, as the C. W. E took over all the distributions of the food items, by the directive of then government, the company then diversified into the fields of road freight transport, agricultural machinery and tobacco growing, which again developed very fast. The company became the best supplier of cured cigarette tobacco leaves to the Ceylon Tobacco Company.
After the demise of the founder, Mr. H. Upali De Silva came into the driving seat, and added Road Passenger Transport Services too, into the line of business in a very systematic way.
The Company was renamed as, H. W. S. De Silva Sons in the year 1991. Since then it was a very smooth and slow building up of the Company.
In the year,2000, the offices were moved to Battaramulla, Colombo.

The financial arm of the Company was named as LISVIN and started operations.
This was registered in 2004, as LISVIN Investments Private Limited, and within a very short period of time became a very successful and a reputed Finance Company.
Mr. Upali De Silva and His youngest Son Mr. Vajira Hendawitharane promoted the idea of introducing a Bus ticketing Machine and a Taxi Meter to assist the Government's sincere efforts to regularize the fare collections from the passenger, and to make the road passenger transport system a well mannered disciplined and systematic one. During the latter part of 2004 LISVIN managed to introduce the first digital electronic bus ticketing machine, in Sri Lanka. Hence for trading proposes the trading arm of the group was added and named, as LISVIN Trading Private Limited.
LISVIN Trading now imports, Bus Ticketing machines, Taxi Meters, Three Wheeler Meters, Telephone coin operated machines Telephone display and ticket issuing units, Trip Recorders for Heavy Vehicle fleet owners, monitoring Systems, Motor spare parts for Indian Vehicles including Reputed brands of brake liners at a very competitive prices, electrically operated gate systems for car parks etc.
